notes / recommendations

notes

the playground rubber is mostly ok with a little cracking. the back left corner (closest to the portables) has a fair amount of cracking.  since loose granules are not significant, this is probably not do to a thinning topcoat. while we can't say for sure, this is probably do to a temperature change at the time of installation or possibly a batch of rubber with low adhesive ratios.  with Duane's authorization we have patched the heaviest cracking locations and a proper sealing schedule should keep things safe and limit patching needs for the life of the playground.
  • playground equipment is mostly in new condition.  (after repair of broken spider web)   the equipment's remaining lifespan should exceed 10 years.

recommendations:  now

  • do install 7 rubber sections on spider web climber

recommendations:  within next 2 years

  • watch for growth to rubber cracks (should be ok til next sealer application)

before
after
maintenance
  • bolts checked/tightened
  • equipment and rubber pressure washed
  • rubber sealed

site evaluation
  • astm signage - updated
  • ADA compliant - with 6 elevated elements, 2 ground level (2 types) are required.  This playground has 8 ground level events
  • there was a loose bolt.  (tightened) (pic 1)
  • 2 broken spider web elements - the flexible elements on this climber have snapped in 2 locations.  in order to limit having to replace the ones that fail in the next couple years, we'll replace the 7 that get the most stress and order 2 extra to keep on hand.  (pic 2-4)
notes
  • the cracks in the rubber are not a safety concern, but we have patched the most serious sections to limit future damage.  patches and cracks prior to patching are shown here. (pics 5-7)
  • the decks are still smooth and show no signs of uv damage
  • the powdercoating is also still in great shape with no obvious fading
