play surfaces

choosing the right surface

90% of the time, the company that sells you a playground,
is not the company installing the surfacing under that playground.

- if something goes wrong, they aren't on the hook!

our team handles every aspect of your playground build, including surfacing!

thus, it is important to us that you understand the specifics of your playground surface
as well as the best way to make it last.

surfacing options

•   poured in place rubber
•   artificial grass
•
   rubber tiles
•   woodchips (engineered wood fiber)
•   shredded rubber

•   sand

since the majority of projects are focused on turf, rubber and woodchips, that's what we have here
if you need any additional information on these or other surfaces, feel free to contact us

rubber

most commonly referred to as poured in place rubber,
this has become the benchmark for playground safety surfacing.
it is the most expensive surfacing choice, but it looks great, and provides great cushion.

1. )   not all rubber is created equal
some poured rubbers are excellent and some are not.
50/50 rubber should be used with caution

2. )   proper maintenance is critical

turf

you also may have heard it referred to as artificial grass, or synthetic turf.
this product has come a long way in the last decade. really good turf is nearly indistinguishable from real grass.
its a beautiful product and maintenance is limited.

lately, there has been a lot of hub-bub over the black rubber infill.
it should be noted that the infill is typically only used for sports fields.
none of our installations have involved the black rubber infill.

woodchips

woodchips is the nickname for engineered wood fiber
it is very appealing for it's ease of installation and low initial cost.
be sure to keep an eye on the surfacing depth and replenish as needed.
